7. Intracorneal Ring Segments (ICRS).
-Incomplete rings made up of PMMA to flatten the central cornea.
-Used to treat myopia, Keratoconus, Post-LASIK ectasia.
MOA:
-Act as passive spacers in the mid-periphery and shorten the arc length of anterior corneal surface, there-by flattening the central cornea.
PRE-REQUISITES:
-Central clear cornea (no scarring).
-Contact lens intolerance.
-Keratometry 46D-60D.
-Minimum corneal thickness 450 microns.
TYPES:
-INTACS.
-Keraring.
-Ferrara.
-Myo Ring.
-The channels can be created by using a mechanical blade or a femtosecond laser.
