● Painless swelling on the eyelid⁣ ⁣

● Occurs due to a blocked meibomian gland in the upper or lower lid⁣ ⁣

● Meibomian gland secretions β†’ blocked β†’ retained oily secretions β†’ breakdown of lipid possibly from bacterial enzymes or retained meibomian secretions β†’ leak into adjacent tissue (surrounding tarsal plate stroma) β†’ Chronic granulomatous inflammation of multinucleated giant cells and epithelioid cells surrounding a lipid globule (Lipogranuloma)⁣ ⁣

● Blepharitis⁣

● Rosacea⁣

● Seborrheic dermatitis⁣

● Smoking⁣

● Diabetes⁣

Rule out neoplasms, infection (leishmaniasis/ TB masses), immune disorders (hyper IgE syndrome)⁣ ⁣

𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭:⁣ ⁣

● Warm compresses and lid massage and maintaining good lid hygiene, antibiotics⁣ ⁣

● Intralesional injection of triamcinolone⁣ ⁣

● Incision and curettage
